Meet Up 2021 - a weekend full of joy, campfires & sunshine

After we had postponed our third Meet Up from May to October for Covid reasons, it finally took place in the Thuringian Rhön at the beginning of October.
Three days of sunshine, good mood, networking and campfire conversations awaited us at the Rhönfeeling campsite.
The first caddy campers arrived around 11am on Friday and the site filled up bit by bit throughout the day until everyone had arrived in the evening. As every year, all participants received a goodie bag from us, with a small Caddyroamers goodie and great support from numerous sponsors. While some were still busy arriving and setting up, others were already chatting and checking out the other caddies. In the early evening, we had a barbecue and a cosy end to the first day around the campfire before everyone crawled into their caddies in wintry temperatures. For those without heaters, it was to be a refreshing night.
The next morning, everyone gradually crawled out of their caddies and enjoyed the first rays of sunshine. We welcomed the participants with a little speech and then the official programme of the Caddyroamers Meet Up could finally start: Three workshops were waiting for the 80 or so caddy campers. In her workshop, Carina worked on the basic techniques of macramé and pennants were knotted, while Nadine showed her participants how to convert the tailgate so that it can be opened easily from the inside. This year we also had a new workshop: Kerstin explained the basics of photography and revealed basic tips and tricks on how to take really good photos.
In the afternoon, we set up our shop and started selling raffle tickets for the evening donation raffle. This year's raffle was again very popular and participants could enjoy great prizes such as down sleeping bags, a rear tent, a separation toilet, a cool box and other camping accessories. The raffle raised an impressive € 2,000, which we later increased to € 2,344.66 via Instagram auctions. We donated the entire amount to the Dachzeltnomaden (roof tent nomads), who have been working in the flood areas for months and have been helping out there. We would like to thank our numerous sponsors, without whom this donation would not have been possible.
We also ended the second evening with a barbecue and campfire before waking up to frosty temperatures the next morning. After the first participants had already started their return journey, a small group set off for a joint hike before the third Caddyroamers Meet Up finally came to an end and the 50 caddies set off again in different directions.
What a joy that we had the weather on our side this time and the weekend gave us an extra portion of sunshine. It was a very successful meeting and we are already looking forward to the fourth Caddyroamers Meet Up, which will take place on 20-22 May 2022 in the Thuringian Rhön.
